Health Internet Finds

This year I have a goal of making some changes to produce less waste. So far this has mainly meant consistently bringing reusable cups to Starbucks, which has definitely added up. Baby steps over here people.

I identified makeup remover wipes as another source of consistent waste in my life. Out of all of the things I am throwing in the trash on a daily basis, this was definitely low hanging fruit and I knew it would be an easy thing to change. Here is my new routine:

Step 1. Reusable cotton rounds.

I found these on Etsy from a shop called Marleys Monsters. These specific ones are 3″ Organic Bamboo Rounds. Once you are ready to wash them you can throw them in with your laundry, easy peasy.

 Step 2 . Makeup Remover

This is the trickier step. I originally tried to make my own with witch hazel and coconut oil but it was very oily and hurt my eyes. Then I stumbled upon this natural makeup remover by Lola Jane Naturals. The ingredients are all things you have heard of, it works really well, doesn’t hurt my eyes and comes in a cute little glass bottle.

This new M.O. is a win: less waste, more natural ingredients, and it gets the job done. Stay tuned as I make more small changes to try and cut back on waste!

It’s funny – I’ve been working on the same thing this year. After watching some crazy videos of people fitting all their garbage in a Mason jar I felt distrusted with myself. Small steps no waste padawan!

YES! The mason jar people are amazing, takes a lot of work to get there though! One itty bitty step at a time…

I'm guaranteed to have hearts in my eyes when the lighting is just right and am totally in love with my beau named Beau, who I found in the middle of fall, my favorite season. I sleep in my makeup, grew up on grunge music, embrace imperfection and am pretty excited about the gift of waking up every morning with choice to kick butt and love every minute of this wild ride.
