ENGLAND | ROAD TRIP DAY 1
After exploring London, we went to the airport and picked up our rental car. They had to upgrade us and we ended up with a little Mini Cooper which made the road trip even more fun.
It has been six years since my last experience driving on the opposite side of the road and it definitely isn’t like riding a bike. After getting my bearings on the roadway, figuring out which lane was the fast lane, and being thoroughly confused by their signage, we were headed to Oxford! We wandered around for a couple of hours, popping into a big market and a few stores, including a dreamy bookstore. The most amazing part was definitely walking through Christ Church where I got to imagine the college experience I could have had at real life Hogwarts. The architecture is seriously dreamy.
After we were done exploring Oxford we headed to our first amazing hotel.
BABINGTON HOUSE . Babington House is technically a members’ club in Frome that also rents rooms. When we arrived we were in shock with the grounds and how magical they were. The main house is surrounded by beautiful green grass and little cottages.
We had highly anticipated appointments at Babington’s spa shortly after we arrived. My experience at the Cowshed Spa was nicer than any sort of pampering I have ever experienced by far. I am now a big fan of scrubs. In between the scrub and massage was a soak with a view of the gardens, I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real. The best 29th birthday present I could have ever bought myself.
Check out our dreamy room:
The food at Babington House was both easy on the eyes and the taste buds. Our dinner we had was good, but nothing to write home about. Breakfast, on the other hand, was out of this world. I got the continental breakfast, which was misleading because continental breakfast at home typically consists of a stale muffin and some cereal. I wish I could have taken a picture of the spread because it was the most beautifully displayed collection of food I have ever set eyes on. Here were my random selections, everything was so good. Who would have thought to torch sugar on a grapefruit half? So fancy.
