FRIDAY HARBOR IN 1 DAY

By on October 5, 2016

Friday Harbor is a perfect weekend PNW getaway spot. The only complicated part about getting there is the infrequent Anacortes ferry crossings and deciding whether or not to bring a car since driving a car on is expensive. We decided to walk onto the ferry pretty early in the morning. It definitely felt like more of an adventure just taking backpacks and leaving the car behind. The only con was we would have loved to drive around the island and see Roche Harbor once we had already explored everything in the tiny town. Next time we will take the motorcycle and make a day trip out of it.

The downtown area of Friday Harbor is super walkable and easy to wander through in a few hours. There were a couple of little knick knack stores that were super dreamy, my favorite being Pebble. I am shocked I made it out of there without buying anything. I did discover a new party decoration/fun stuff brand called Toot Sweet (which is something Beau and I call each other) and considered wheeling their entire display out of the door.

We also went to the Friday Harbor Farmer’s Market which was very cute, and gave me some inspiration for growing enough vegetables to share one day. Even if just a small small share.

We stayed at Island Inn at 123 West which is a 3 minute walk from the ferry dock in Friday Harbor. It was perfect for our weekend trip, not to mention this was the view outside of our room:

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary in Friday Harbor, eating lots of good food, watching football and relaxing. We can’t wait to come back on the motorcycle sometime! PNW, you are magic.

HI! I'M STEPH.

Professional lover of stories, the harmonica, goats and burritos. Constantly daydreaming about living in the country, ice cream and decorating. Inspired by beautiful writing, the PNW, Beyonce and kindness. I'm guaranteed to have hearts in my eyes when the lighting is just right and am totally in love with my beau named Beau, who I found in the middle of fall, my favorite season. I sleep in my makeup, grew up on grunge music, embrace imperfection and am pretty excited about the gift of waking up every morning with choice to kick butt and love every minute of this wild ride.
